Preview: The results of Nebuchadnezzar’s prophetic dream are a cautionary tale for us all.

Scripture Reading: Daniel 3:1-7.

Memory Verse: Daniel 3:14.

1. What was the next step Nebuchadnezzar made after Daniel made known his dream? Daniel 3:1.
2. For what purpose was the image erected? Daniel 3:2-3.
Note: Notice carefully: This image was 90 feet high, all gold. Nebuchadnezzar wanted this image of his to be all gold, which differed from the one in his dream, so that his kingdom would not be overthrown; and he felt that if all nations would bow to it, his kingdom would stand forever. What a blind idea.
3. What was the great command of the king? Daniel 3:4-6.
4. How did the nations all obey his command? Daniel 3:7.
Note: Remember that the three Hebrew children had at this time become the highest officers and Daniel was the president, next to the king.
5. How did the Chaldeans accuse the Jews? Daniel 3:8-12.
6. How did their report affect Nebuchadnezzar? Daniel 3:13-16.
7. How did the Jews further declare their service to God? Daniel 3:17-18.
8. How did their determination appeal to the king? Daniel 3:19-22.
9. Into what were the three Hebrews cast? Daniel 3:23.
10. How was the king troubled? Daniel 3:24.
11. How many people did the king find when he looked into the furnace the next morning? Daniel 3:25.
12. What did the king say to the men from the mouth of the furnace? Daniel 3:26.
13. How did this affect the captain, governors, and the great men of the nation? Daniel 3:27.
14. What was the prayer of Nebuchadnezzar when he saw himself defeated? Daniel 3:28.
15. What did the king threaten to do to the men that would speak against the God of the three Jewish heroes? Daniel 3:29.
16. How highly did the king elevate the three heroes? Daniel 3:30.
Note: Nebuchadnezzar was sadly defeated. He had to confess to all nations that he had defrauded God. It was a sad experience; but most men are stubborn from their youth, and try to exalt themselves above God. The Lord is not willing that we should bow to images, but bow and serve Him.
17. What do the first two Commandments forbid and why? Exodus 20:3-5.
