Scripture Reading: II Thessalonians 2:1-17.

Memory Verse: II Corinthians 2:11.

1. Do we understand from the foregoing Scriptures that Satan cannot destroy those who have a genuine love and desire for truth?
Note: The awesome truth is unless we love truth (God’s Word) and hate unrighteousness (anything contrary to God’s Word), we are damned. There is no way to half-heartedly serve God.
2. What was Elijah’s experience with Satan? I Kings 19:4, I Kings 19:9-10, I Kings 19:14-15 & I Kings 19:18.
3. What was Peter’s warning? I Peter 5:8.
4. How did Jesus describe the Devil? John 8:34 & John 8:37-44.
Note: Jesus declares that the Devil never was anything but a murderer and the father of lies, even from the beginning.
5. What is the first record we have of his lying deception? Genesis 3:1-5.
6. How successful was he? Genesis 3:6, Genesis 3:12-13.
Note: Even today people are still buying that lie, but death is sure, and it means total and final cessation of all vital functions. Only God’s people will escape the second death. Revelation 2:11.
7. What other witness declared that the death sentence applied to all people? Romans 5:12, I Corinthians 15:21-26 & Hebrews 9:27.
8. Does Satan sometimes use God’s ministers to deceive God’s people? I Kings 13:11-19.
9. How destructive is the result? I Kings 13:20-26.
10. How do we know conditions will continue to get worse and worse? II Timothy 3:12-14 & II Timothy 4:1-4.
11. Where must our instructions come from? II Timothy 3:15-17.
Note: We must study to show ourselves approved of God. II Timothy 2:15. There is no other way except through God’s Word and His Holy Spirit that enables us to rightly divide His Word of Truth.
