Preview: The Bible is filled with examples of how envy, jealousy, and hatred have affected men’s lives negatively.

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 27:1-12.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 27:5.

1. What does Solomon say about envy? Proverbs 27:4.
2. How would you describe jealousy from this verse? Song of Solomon 8:6.
3. To what is one compared that hates his brother? I John 3:15.
Note: Envy, jealousy, and hatred all work very closely together and are very tightly related. If one is practiced, as a rule all will be practiced, as you can hardly use one without it involving the others.
4. What did envy lead the chief priests to do to Christ? Mark 15:1-10.
5. What did it lead the Jews to do in Paul’s day? Acts 13:44-50.
6. What happens where envy and strife exist? James 3:14-16.
Note: Envy and jealousy lead to hatred, and hatred leads to destruction or separation. Hatred is the opposite of love, and love unites or brings us closer together.
7. How should our hearts be watched? Proverbs 4:23.
8. What does the spirit within humans tend to lust after? James 4:5.
9. What will help us to prevent these things from coming in our lives? James 4:7-8.
10. What should we possess to keep ourselves free from envy, jealousy, and hatred? I Corinthians 13:4-5.
11. How did Solomon describe envy? Proverbs 14:30.
12. Who shall inherit the Kingdom of God? Will it be those who possess envy, jealousy, and hatred? Galatians 5:20-21.
Note: There is always an effort required on the part of every individual who seeks to escape the snares of the Devil. It is those who would do right that the Devil seeks, as he cannot steal that which he has already.
